Southeast Asia Information Port (www.dnyxxg.com) – In the last few days of August, hundreds of container trucks loaded with fresh fruit from key Vietnamese production areas were processing export formalities at the Friendship Pass in Guangxi. Durian, dragon fruit, jackfruit, mango, passion fruit, and other Vietnamese fruits are becoming increasingly popular with Chinese consumers and businesses.
According to a report from Vietnam's Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, Vietnam's total fruit and vegetable exports are estimated to reach US$3.92 billion in the first seven months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 0.9%. China is Vietnam's largest import market for agricultural products, accounting for approximately 52.6% of the total export value. Durian exports saw the fastest growth, followed by dragon fruit, jackfruit, watermelon, and bananas.
A key reason for the success of Vietnamese agricultural products in winning over Chinese consumers is their high quality and diverse varieties. In addition to fresh fruit consumption, many Chinese companies are incorporating Vietnamese durian and mango into large-scale processing lines, processing them into segments, vacuum-packing them, or turning them into various high-value-added products such as candy and ice cream.
The enthusiastic welcome from the Chinese market has created a great opportunity for Vietnamese agricultural products to enhance their value and brand image.
China is one of the world's largest consumers of fruit, importing large quantities annually from regional and international sources. Against this backdrop, Vietnam, with its geographical advantages, low transportation costs, and diverse seasonal produce, is fully capable of maintaining its position as a major supplier.
The recent successful exports of varieties such as durian, mango, dragon fruit, and jackfruit have demonstrated the enormous potential of Vietnam's fruit industry. (End)
